Apple’s Surprise Move: Say Goodbye to Vision Pro, Hello to Affordable VR

Apple’s first step in the VR/AR industry may not have been a massive success with their Vision Pro. The reports indicated slashed production numbers off the poor sales. Most of the users complained about having cracked screens, feelings of isolation, and looking like a plum while wearing the headset.

Oh, and on top of it, the price stands at $3,499.

Some of the recent reports share that the company has now suspended work on the next generation of the device. Instead, it is planning a cheaper model. The cheaper version is said to have fewer cameras, a simpler headband, and smaller speakers, as MacRumors reported. It might probably cost the same as a high-end iPhone.

However, Apple may keep the fancy internal display components the same in their new model. It’s because many reviewers pointed it out in the Apple Vision Pro.

The Vision Pro was heavy, with its overall weight ranging between 600 to 650 grams. It’s about a little under 100 grams heavier than the Oculus Quest 2. So when you strap something so heavy on your head, it’s not comfortable enough to enjoy in the virtual world. However, the newer model is reportedly lighter than the Vision Pro, and thus, easier on the neck.

After all, it’s all rumors until the real product is released. Only then we can be sure of these reports, if Apple is focusing on creating a more consumer-centric headset. Till then, it won’t be wrong to say that Apple could do better with its first ‘spatial computer.’
