The Pavel’s Gulag Getout is a penguin-themed, “rage-quit-inducing” VR climbing game. It will be soon available on Quest and Steam.
This game is co-developed by a VR content creator named Brandon Smith (ChubbierSnail) and Mindway, who previously released a VR meditation app. In this game, you play as Pavel Pinguinovich, who is a penguin kidnapped and imprisoned by agents for secret experiments in Cold War-era Siberia.

With a hammer and sickle, the penguin’s task is to climb up an ice wall with his wit and determination to reunite with his family. The game also includes some storyboards.
In the announcement, Tim Levent shared, “We are incredibly excited to be working with Brandon on this project.” He added, “His creativity and ability to connect with an active user base on a deep level make him the perfect partner to bring ‘Pavel’s Gulag Getout’ to life.”
According to the Mindway CEO, they aim to make the game challenging, incredibly immersive, and emotionally connecting. The game is anticipated to be available in late 2024.
